Enamel Pin Project: Tribal Masks December 04 2016, 0 Comments
I bought my first African mask from a street vendor on Broadway in NYC years ago. Since then I've traveled a bit, and when I can, I'll pick up a mask: Bali, Guatemala, Mexico...they are fascinating objects!
Masks are steeped in mystery and ritual. Take this one for instance from the Bobo/Bwa tribe in Burkina Faso, West Africa. The Bobo/Bwa believe that their mission in this life is to restore the balance between man and nature which man inherently destroys. The sun mask is used in agricultural rituals for a good harvest.
This is the first design in a series of enamel Mask Pins. There's a limited edition of 100 of each design.
This pin is:
- Approx. 1.5" x 1.25"
- Cloisonné (hard enamel)
- 3 colors
- Black nickel finish
- Black Rubber Clutch
